Wednesday, 30 November – Bridging Session: Day 1

8:00 – 9:00    Breakfast  - Garden Dining Room

09:00    Opening Circle - Embassy Room

The Bridging Session will start with introductions and welcomes, an overview of the agenda and guidelines, and announcements.

09:30    Interactive Plenary - Embassy Room

Participants will engage in fun collaborative debate on issues at the intersection of natural resource governance and technology. The majority of topics will be sourced from participants in real time. Our goal will be to build an understanding of who is in the room and how they consider the issues at hand.

10:30    Break - Outside Embassy Room

10:45    Agenda Brainstorm - Embassy Room

Participants will work in small groups to review the agenda and offer their input on topics and elements which will make the event more valuable for their own needs.

11:15    Framing Discussions - Embassy Room

Before diving into strategic learning sessions, participants will be invited to discuss relationships between technology and natural resource governance, based on their own experiences, breaking into small groups to share perspectives and contextualize the work ahead.

12:30    Lunch - Crystal Dining Room

13:30    Strategic Goals Review - Embassy Room

Participating organisations will meet in small groups to review targeted outcomes from both the event and the larger capacity building program, and in turn consider technology learning goals and skills needed to support plans. From there each group will map out steps for addressing the same during and after the event.

15:00 Break - Outside Embassy Room

15:15 Strategy Report-Outs - Embassy Room

Participating organisations will report out what they hope to accomplish at the intersection of new technology and natural resource governance, both in terms of strategic objectives as well as specific tools and capacity gain related to those objectives, and invite feedback from other participants. The report-outs will also serve to better acquaint participants with each other’s work.

16:30    Working Sessions - Embassy Room

The group will meet with facilitators to start working towards their learning and capacity goals and further plan out activities for Day 2. NB – facilitators will be identified from all participants prior to the start of the meeting.

17:30    Closing Circle Embassy Room

The group will meet in plenary to summarize outcomes from Day 1 and look ahead to the work of the next day.

Thursday, December – Bridging Session: Day 2

We will start the day with a brief plenary for announcements and agenda review

09:15    Working sessions - Embassy, Maple, Boardroom and Chestnut rooms

Participants break into small working groups for hands-on learning and implementation of plans.

10:30    Break - Outside Embassy Room

10:45    Working sessions - Embassy, Maple, Boardroom and Chestnut rooms

Participants will continue in small working groups for hands-on learning and implementation of plans.

12:30    Lunch -Crystal Dining Room

13:30    Fast-Paced Project Demos - Embassy Room

In a highly interactive format, participants will learn about a range of applied uses of technology in contexts relevant to the programmatic work of their organizations. In the course of an hour, participants will encounter online strategies and tactics that may inform their work and thinking.

14:30    Break - Outside Embassy Room

14:45    Considering Organizational Challenges - Embassy Room

Each organization faces unique challenges in adopting and integrating new technologies into their ongoing work, ranging from cultural issues to resource issue to other practicalities. This session will invite participants to compare how they anticipate introducing new technology into their programs and to work through challenges and issues they associate with those plans.

16:00    Break - Outside Embassy Room

16:15    Mid-Point Questions and Reflection - Embassy Room

We’ll use the final session slot to address questions that have been raised in the course of the day, and to consider how well learning progress is tracking to goals for each participating organization, and adjust plans accordingly for Day 3.

17:30    Closing Circle - Embassy Room

The group will meet in plenary to summarize outcomes from Day 2 and look ahead to the final day.

Friday, December – Bridging Session: Day 3

13:30    Post-Event PlanningTaking New Technology Home – Embassy Room

Groups will assess what they have accomplished versus what remains undone, and map out plans for integrating learning and developed processes into their ongoing practices.

15:00    Bridging Session Wrap-Up and Next Steps - Embassy Room

We’ll use the last agenda session to review outcomes from the three days, and to discuss how we can continue the collaboration moving forward. In particular, we’ll address the question “What should ongoing support look like to you?”

16:30    Closing Circle - Embassy Room

The final plenary will provide an opportunity to offer thanks for what has been shared and done, and to celebrate the great work being done by those present.
